Troubleshooting
The panel does not appear
Reload the YouTube tab once. Tabs that were open before ChapterJump was installed or updated do not
have it yet. The panel shows on video pages (youtube.com/watch and
youtube.com/live), not on the home page or Shorts. If you hid it, click the ChapterJump
button on the browser toolbar to show it again.
Chapters are missing or wrong
ChapterJump reads the chapters the author added: the chapter list, timestamps in the description or the marks on the progress bar. If a video has none, the list stays empty; use bookmarks instead. If a video clearly has chapters on YouTube but the panel shows none or different ones, send us the link and we will fix it.
The panel is off-screen or too small
Open the gear menu in the panel header and choose "Reset position and size". The panel goes back to the top-right corner at its default size.
My bookmarks are gone after reinstalling
Bookmarks live only in your browser, and the browser deletes them together with the extension. They cannot be restored after that. Before you remove ChapterJump, open "All bookmarks" at the bottom of the Bookmarks tab and export them as Markdown, CSV or JSON.
The panel says "ChapterJump was updated"
The extension updated itself while the tab was open. Reload the tab and everything works again, your bookmarks included.
Reporting a bug
These four things let us reproduce and fix a problem on the first try:
- The link to the video, with the time if it matters
- What you expected, and what happened instead
- A screenshot or a short screen recording
- Your browser and its version, from its About page
